“heavy Is The Hand”

Located at Lowemill Arts & Entertainment

Third Floor West Gallery

November 22, 2023- February 3, 2024

'Heavy is the Hand' is a collection of all new works that bring attention to the themes of influence, intention, support, connection and individuality. This collection touches on the difficulty as well as the peace that comes with acknowledging and finding the balance between these things.

The hands that Raven incorporates within each piece represents the power that shared thoughts and opinions hold within ourselves and others.
Whether the intent is to help, hurt, or simply hold, these hands are present. They are seen. They are felt. They are powerful.

Though the majority of this collection is based on truly seeing and understanding outside intent, just as important, she wants the power possessed by our own hands, thoughts and perspective to be acknowledged.
You'll notice her reacurring suns and moons which symbolize strength and peace, something we can reach for and rely on when we at times feel we don't have the support we need.

This exposition gave Raven another opportunity to experiment with new techniques and share her thoughts through charcoal, acrylics, metal leafing, resin, wood and poetry. You’ll find the short poems put together throughout the exhibit to serve as her perspective on these pieces.

'Heavy is the hand
that weighs the weight of the world
the hand that rests
on hearts, through chest
the hand, numb
that prays for tears
and tears through shoulders cloth
to face it's fears....'
