Verdant Veil
(sold)
This piece was created in the midst of my home flooding, and the majority of my home being gutted and replaced so this was a very off and on project, taking place in and forcing my bedroom to double as a studio. That, and traveling for a week long mural fest by car, made this…. not easy, but I learned so much about coping with circumstance and getting the job done no matter what.
“Verdant Veil” is a commissioned piece by the shop owner of Arcadia. She found me and my work at panoply art show and wanted a custom piece for the piercing room of her tattoo shop. She gave me free reign with design/composition and subject. The requests she made were the large size and jewelry depicted in some way.
From the submerged flowing red hair and freckles enhanced by opulent dripping gold jewelry and a veil of sunlight to the deep emerald plants, home to my curious little silhouettes, ‘Verdant Veil’ is giving Mother Nature meets Ethereal Ariel meets Poison Ivy.
Custom mixing the acrylics to match the color scheme of the shop while blending in complimentary tones turned out better than I expected and I’m so happy she loves it.
